Special Note: Our Classes page on the above button has a new class listed for Autumn 2010. Register soon, classes start September 13. This class meets a continuing education requirement for current deacons. The Order of St. Stephen, Deacon, is a Lutheran organization that
The Order’s program of study provides a sound foundation on which the Pastor the congregation and the Deacon can grow ministry. The course of study exposes the participant to a wide variety academic and practical training. As the Order has no building its classes are taught at a location central to the class members, usually in a church willing to lend us classroom space one night a week. The classes are taught by Pastors or others experienced in a certain area of expertise. Topics include Bible, Church History, Liturgy and Hospital Ministry to name a few. Pastors who are interested in teaching are welcome to contact the Arch Deacon. For the Diaconal students, the program is a three year course of study, three classes each year. The classes are offered in cycle and the student may begin at any time. Continuing educational opportunities are available in the summer months and the topics are often chosen according to the interests or needs of the students. The courses offered by the Order also serve as continuing education and refresher courses for anyone from your congregation or community. You might have seen our table at the MD/DE Synodical Assembly but enclosed is a brochure in case you missed us. Kindly consider if this type of program could be of use to you or to your lay leaders. Speakers are available for church services or meetings. I hope you have found the information on our web page helpful. I am available to speak with your congregation or community event and can be reached at cgwilson at cablespeed.com. Many thanks and God’s peace be yours. Sincerely, Gail L. Wilson, Archdeacon
